Evolutionary timing of moths and butterflies!

Really cool paper! The authors reveal that the origins of Lepidoptera occured much earlier than previously thought, but show that they diversified together with Angiosperms.

Seems that transitioning from aquatic habitats to land was one of the most important steps in the evolution of plants. This generated huge amounts genetic variation, which set the stage for future diversification among plant lineages.
